Tray Black, Executive Vice President, Finance & Chief Financial Officer, joined Vencer in June 2021. During Mr. Black’s twenty-two (22) year career he has held executive, portfolio management, business development, finance & engineering roles for public and private oil and gas companies as well as upstream-focused private equity funds.

Prior to joining Vencer, Black served as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Springbok Energy Partners where he led all finance and accounting functions as well as co-led fundraising and A&D activity for the minerals acquisition company. Previously, he held positions to include Managing Director for Source Rock Energy Partners; Senior Vice President for Kayne Anderson Energy Funds; Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Prize Petroleum; and Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Lime Rock Resources.

Mr. Black obtained a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Tray previously served as Chairman for the Industry Advisory Board at Mewbourne School of Petroleum & Geological Engineering of the University of Oklahoma.

Black is a member of the IPAA, Houston Energy Finance Group, and Society of Petroleum Engineers. Tray previously served as President for the Broach Foundation for Brain Cancer Research.
